The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Loveland: B+.

Somebody in the 58th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Colston Loveland, the No. 25 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Jones Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Adding Kyren Williams by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Ozzy Trapilo at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.

They jumped the gun on Emery Jones Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
