The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Thornton Jr.: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Dont'e Thornton Jr. tumbling to the Texans in Round 7, Pick 20 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Ratledge lower, and that gap is the story.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
A reach on Tate Ratledge in No. 58; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick79 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant in the 79th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick89 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
They will replay Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 89 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick166 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
They paid sticker price for Kyle Williams in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Circle this one: Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 236th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick241 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
They barely believed it either: Oronde Gadsden II still on the board at pick 241. The roster fit checks out.
