Draft Grade — Texans

FutureC+
Larceny in slot 166 lands the Texans a B, Bryant and all. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Cobee Bryant slide 41 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Hawes pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at the 33rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Higgins. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
Somehow Kaleb Johnson was still sitting there in the 67th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick79
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Nothing to complain about; Omarr Norman-Lott went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in pick No. 89 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in No. 166 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
They reached a country mile for Jackson Hawes at pick 236, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick241
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
