Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA- FutureC+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Lambert-Smith: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. KeAndre Lambert-Smith tumbling to the Texans in Round 7, Pick 20 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen slipping to the 33rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick58 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 58th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
No edge and no loss on Donovan Jackson in slot 62; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick79 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Nothing to complain about; Elijah Arroyo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick89 Rnd3 Charles Grant
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Charles Grant. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94 Rnd3 Savion Williams
Savion Williams at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in Round 5, Pick 28 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick236 Rnd7 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
The board fumbled KeAndre Lambert-Smith all the way to pick No. 236, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick241 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
They took Bilhal Kone at par in No. 241, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
