Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureC+
The Texans won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Texans should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

Hawes has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Savaiinaea at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at No. 33 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick34 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenneth Grant at Round 2, Pick 2 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea slid further than he should have, and slot 58 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67 Rnd3 Tre Harris
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 67 with a little surplus value in Tre Harris. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick79 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in the 79th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick89 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
A tidy little value on Ozzy Trapilo in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick105 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
They took Zy Alexander at par in pick 105, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick166 Rnd5 Damien Martinez
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Damien Martinez in the 166th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at No. 236 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
