The Texans robbed the room for McClellan. Final grade: B.

The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Jase McClellan, the No. 196 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Jenkins pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 87, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.

Elijah Jones at the 123rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.

A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 127 with a little surplus value in Tyler Davis. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

James Williams in pick 174 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
