Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Cooper Jr.: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Omar Cooper Jr., the No. 78 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 106th overall pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Igbinosun has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 28 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that.
Pick47 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon slipping to the 47th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick59 Rnd2 Gennings Dunker
A clean, defensible pick in pick 59 with a little surplus value in Gennings Dunker. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick77 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
They robbed the room for Lee Hunter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
Somehow Jadarian Price was still sitting there in the 82nd overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106 Rnd4 Omar Cooper Jr.
They will replay Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 106 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick113 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bishop Fitzgerald in slot 113. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick121 Rnd4 Logan Jones
A reach on Logan Jones in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 128 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick161 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst in slot 161 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick165 Rnd5 Nadame Tucker
Nadame Tucker in the 165th pick is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick234 Rnd7 Keyshaun Elliott
Circle this one: Keyshaun Elliott at No. 234 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick243 Rnd7 Cole Payton
Cole Payton at the 243rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick244 Rnd7 John Michael Gyllenborg
John Michael Gyllenborg in Round 7, Pick 28 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
