Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Clark should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Bud Clark tumbling to the Texans in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In the 28th overall pick they get a three-down second-level presence. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane in Round 2, Pick 6 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick59 Rnd2 Christen Miller
They robbed the room for Christen Miller here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick69 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy in No. 69 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick106 Rnd4 Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson is a better player than pick 106 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick128 Rnd4 Logan Jones
Logan Jones in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick165 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
The board had Tanner Koziol higher than the 165th pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick243 Rnd7 Bud Clark
They will replay Bud Clark at slot 243 for years; that is how good the value is. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jalon Daniels
Jalon Daniels at Round 7, Pick 28 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
