FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Hood: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Colton Hood slide 81 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots went begging. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In slot 28 they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane at pick No. 38 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick59
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald in the 59th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick72
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
The board fumbled Lee Hunter all the way to Round 3, Pick 8, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick106
Rnd4
Colton Hood
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Colton Hood at cornerback with wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots open.
Pick141
Rnd5
Connor Lew
Circle this one: Connor Lew at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick167
Rnd5
Isaiah World
You do not let an offensive lineman like Isaiah World reach No. 167 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick243
Rnd7
Terion Stewart
Terion Stewart at the 243rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
