Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

FutureB-
The Texans kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Gabe Hall; the Texans did not wait, grabbing him 34 spots ahead at slot 188.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in pick No. 42 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick59
Rnd2
Junior Colson
Junior Colson in pick 59 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at the 86th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick127
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
Elijah Jones at Round 4, Pick 27 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick129
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in No. 129 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick188
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gabe Hall. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick230
Rnd7
JD Bertrand
Nice patience on JD Bertrand, who had no business lasting to pick No. 230. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick247
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
They paid up for Sam Hartman at slot 247 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
