Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC FutureC-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

There is a lot to like until you notice wide receiver is still a hole. The Texans never got to the one that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Fairchild has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They banked enough surplus on Simmons to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the 24th overall pick they get a green-dot type in the middle. A real need, handled.
Pick25 Rnd1 Ollie Gordon II
In pick No. 25 they get a lead back with juice at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick26 Rnd1 Princely Umanmielen
They did well to land Princely Umanmielen in pick 26, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick84 Rnd3 Josh Simmons
Josh Simmons in Round 3, Pick 20 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick155 Rnd5 Reuben Fatheree II
They paid sticker price for Reuben Fatheree II in slot 155, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick216 Rnd7 Dylan Fairchild
The board had cheaper options than Dylan Fairchild at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
