Draft Grade — Texans

FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Dixon: B-. When a board-topper like Thaddeus Dixon slides to Round 7, Pick 27, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Klein proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
Good price on Olaivavega Ioane in the 28th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick38
Rnd2
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at Round 2, Pick 6 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick59
Rnd2
A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy slipping to slot 59 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
A slide stopped in pick 69, with Jake Slaughter worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick106
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
They took Chris McClellan at par in the 128th pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick165
Rnd5
Marlin Klein
A conviction pick on Marlin Klein at pick No. 165 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick243
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
Steal is underselling it; Thaddeus Dixon at No. 243 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick244
Rnd7
Kaden Wetjen
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 28 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
