Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Mukuba should have been long gone. The Vikings pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in the 165th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Andrew Mukuba, the No. 87 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenneth Grant at the Round 2 slot is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jake Majors
They liked Jake Majors enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 94. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant in slot 97 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at Round 4, Pick 2 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick140 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at No. 140 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick161 Rnd5 RJ Harvey
They paid sticker price for RJ Harvey in the 161st overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick165 Rnd5 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the 165th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick181 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They did well to land Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 181, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
They talked themselves into Cam Jackson at the 194th pick, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Circle this one: Jaylen Reed at Round 6, Pick 24 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick216 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Taking Oronde Gadsden II in pick No. 216 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick217 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Steal is underselling it; Nazir Stackhouse at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jaylin Lane
A conviction pick on Jaylin Lane at slot 257 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
