Starchychaff DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Seahawks: B-. The Seahawks looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took RJ Harvey at the Round 7 slot regardless, 108 picks early. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The Wells Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Tyler Booker
In the 30th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Miller Moss
Miller Moss in slot 62 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94
Rnd3
LT Overton
A swing that ignored the value entirely, LT Overton well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick131
Rnd4
David Bailey
David Bailey at pick 131 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick136
Rnd4
Jermari Harris
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jermari Harris this early at Round 4, Pick 35. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick172
Rnd5
Antwane Wells Jr.
Antwane Wells Jr. slid further than he should have, and No. 172 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193
Rnd6
J.C. Davis
No edge and no loss on J.C. Davis in Round 6, Pick 18; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick210
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
They talked themselves into Oronde Gadsden II at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick244
Rnd7
RJ Harvey
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for RJ Harvey. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
