Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Steelers walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

On value alone, Legette makes the weekend a net positive. They will need Foster to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value.
Pick52 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Value with a capital V on Xavier Legette in pick No. 52, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick84 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at No. 84 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick119 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
Tyrice Knight in slot 119 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick120 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster at Round 4, Pick 20 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick198 Rnd6 Austin Stogner
A straight-up fair deal on Austin Stogner at pick 198, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick241 Rnd7 Mark Perry
They took Mark Perry at par in the 241st pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
