Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureD-
The Bills let Gould fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Somebody in No. 248 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Anthony Gould, the No. 142 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The cost of the Hartman reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The phones were where this weekend was really won. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In the 28th pick they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Value with a capital V on Cooper Beebe in the 58th overall pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss in Round 3, Pick 28 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick99 Rnd3 Renardo Green
Steal is underselling it; Renardo Green at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144 Rnd5 Sataoa Laumea
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sataoa Laumea at No. 144 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
They reached into another round for Jordan Jefferson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
The board fumbled Trevor Keegan all the way to pick 189, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan at slot 200 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick204 Rnd6 Ro Torrence
You do not let a cornerback like Ro Torrence reach the 204th pick and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick209 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sam Hartman well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick248 Rnd7 Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould at Round 7, Pick 28 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
