FutureB
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a B+. The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Curtis Samuel gives the group a proven body among the projects. Mahogany has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
Marvin Harrison Jr. in No. 2 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at pick No. 36 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
They paid a round early for Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 11, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick100
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Fair-plus on Tykee Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
