Draft Grade — Browns

Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Bassa: D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Browns shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The Dart reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, Bassa at that price is a win they earned.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In No. 28 they get a wrecking ball inside, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
A big swing on Jaxson Dart at the 33rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick37
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
A premium they did not need to pay, Aireontae Ersery a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick60
Rnd2
Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
Nice patience on Zy Alexander, who had no business lasting to slot 67. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick94
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They will replay Quinshon Judkins at No. 94 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick103
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
They read the board right and Donovan Jackson was the payoff at the 103rd pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jeffrey Bassa
The board fumbled Jeffrey Bassa all the way to slot 165, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
