Draft Grade — Broncos

Thornton Jr. should have been long gone. The Broncos pounced, and earned a B-. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Broncos, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Landing Thornton Jr. that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Mastromanno reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland slid further than he should have, and pick No. 42 is lovely value for the tight end. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
They paid sticker price for Cam Skattebo in pick 90, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick118
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
They robbed the room for Tez Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
A tidy little value on Nohl Williams in No. 122, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick139
Rnd5
Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in the 139th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at slot 191 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick197
Rnd6
CJ West
Value with a capital V on CJ West in the 197th overall pick, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick207
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
No drama and no debate, Nazir Stackhouse went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick208
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They barely believed it either: Dont'e Thornton Jr. still on the board at the 208th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick218
Rnd7
Alex Mastromanno
A conviction pick on Alex Mastromanno at pick No. 218 that the board grades a round light. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
