FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Vikings: B. The tape said wait; the Vikings did not. Hayden Conner went at slot 244, a good 23 picks before the board was ready. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Trapilo at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In No. 28 they get a go-to option on the outside. A real need, handled.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jordan Phillips
They paid a round early for Jordan Phillips in the 97th pick, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick102
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Steal is underselling it; Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 38 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
A quiet steal in pick 130: Kyle McCord for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139
Rnd5
Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick187
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 187. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues slid further than he should have, and slot 196 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228
Rnd7
Craig Woodson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Craig Woodson at No. 228 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick244
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in pick 244, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
