jimbo92107 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

FutureB-
The Vikings checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Vikings did not so much draft Jake Briningstool as overpay for him, 31 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Getting Mullings where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III at pick No. 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick104
Rnd4
Charles Grant
Charles Grant slid further than he should have, and slot 104 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jake Briningstool
A big swing on Jake Briningstool at pick 139, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick179
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nazir Stackhouse. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick187
Rnd6
Kalel Mullings
You do not let a running back like Kalel Mullings reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylen Reed at No. 200 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick216
Rnd6
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
They will replay KeAndre Lambert-Smith at the 216th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
