jimbo92107 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Vikings, and a B to prove it. The war room fell hard for Cam Jackson, and it showed at Round 6, Pick 11: 45 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Landing McMillan that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 32 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that.
Pick96
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
They paid a round early for Dylan Fairchild in slot 96, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick97
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick134
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cobee Bryant at the 134th overall pick is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jeffrey Bassa
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 1: Jeffrey Bassa for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick161
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune in the 161st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick164
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at the 164th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick165
Rnd5
Damien Martinez
They read the board right and Damien Martinez was the payoff at No. 165. It fills a real need, too.
Pick168
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Dont'e Thornton Jr. a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick187
Rnd6
Cam Jackson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cam Jackson well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
