jimbo92107 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
B

FutureB-
The Vikings won the night they stopped Tuten from sliding. Grade: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Bhayshul Tuten got past him. The Vikings do not have to explain a thing at No. 180. No fireworks, but a solid B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at No. 37 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick68
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tate Ratledge. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97
Rnd3
Savion Williams
Fair-plus on Savion Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick139
Rnd5
Mello Dotson
A tidy little value on Mello Dotson in pick 139, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick143
Rnd5
Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans in the 143rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick180
Rnd6
Bhayshul Tuten
A running back of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 4 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick187
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Dont'e Thornton Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick213
Rnd6
Antwane Wells Jr.
Antwane Wells Jr. in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick215
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Value with a capital V on Jay Higgins in the 215th overall pick, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick222
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
The board fumbled Donovan Edwards all the way to Round 7, Pick 6, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
