No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Buccaneers. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Pat Coogan in Round 5, Pick 23, a good 27 spots before the room expected him.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The Justin Simmons deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In No. 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary. A real need, handled.
Pick42
Rnd2
Suntarine Perkins
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Suntarine Perkins. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick92
Rnd3
Oscar Delp
This one needs a full-page explanation: Oscar Delp in slot 92, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at the 122nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick235
Rnd7
Ethan Onianwa
A conviction pick on Ethan Onianwa at pick No. 235 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
