FutureB-
The Buccaneers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Buccaneers reached some 68 spots for Lawson Luckie, and value like that does not grow back.
However the rest shakes out, Hill Jr. at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy at the Round 1 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick36
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
They will replay Anthony Hill Jr. at pick No. 36 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick86
Rnd3
DeMonte Capehart
They reached into another round for DeMonte Capehart, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132
Rnd4
Lawson Luckie
This one needs a full-page explanation: Lawson Luckie in Round 4, Pick 30, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick200
Rnd6
James Smith
They barely believed it either: James Smith still on the board at slot 200. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
