Draft Grade — Titans

Taaffe should have been long gone. The Titans pounced, and earned a C-.

The Titans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Michael Taaffe, the No. 71 name on the board, in No. 101.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Heidenreich has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get a bell-cow for the offense at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Zion Young
Zion Young in Round 2, Pick 3 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick66 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
Good price on Germie Bernard in pick No. 66, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick72 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter slid further than he should have, and the 72nd pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Gennings Dunker
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Gennings Dunker in No. 75, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99 Rnd3 Davison Igbinosun
Circle this one: Davison Igbinosun at slot 99 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick101 Rnd4 Michael Taaffe
Steal is underselling it; Michael Taaffe at the 101st overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick115 Rnd4 Kyle Louis
They barely believed it either: Kyle Louis still on the board at pick 115. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick142 Rnd5 Chris McClellan
Chris McClellan in slot 142 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144 Rnd5 Isaiah World
Isaiah World in the 144th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick173 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
A slide stopped in pick No. 173, with Kevin Coleman Jr. worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick184 Rnd6 Matt Gulbin
A straight-up fair deal on Matt Gulbin at the 184th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick194 Rnd6 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
Nice patience on Kaleb Elarms-Orr, who had no business lasting to No. 194. The roster fit checks out.
Pick221 Rnd7 Eric McAlister
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 221 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick225 Rnd7 Eli Heidenreich
Eli Heidenreich at Round 7, Pick 9 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
