FutureD+
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Colts: C+. Nobody else had Tanor Bortolini anywhere near slot 106. The Colts did, by 48 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
Landing Gould that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In No. 13 they get a seam-stretching tight end, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27
Rnd1
Xavier Worthy
In the 27th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jaden Hicks
A straight-up fair deal on Jaden Hicks at the 61st pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick82
Rnd3
Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick97
Rnd3
Cam Hart
A real head-scratcher, Cam Hart in pick No. 97 is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick106
Rnd4
Tanor Bortolini
They reached a country mile for Tanor Bortolini at slot 106, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick144
Rnd5
Jalyx Hunt
Nice patience on Jalyx Hunt, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 8. The roster fit checks out.
Pick160
Rnd5
Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at pick No. 160 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184
Rnd6
Anthony Gould
The board fumbled Anthony Gould all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee in the 191st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
