Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB FutureB+
The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent slot 93 on Jaylen Wright, a name most had 70 spots down the list. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Neyor at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kamren Kinchens
In pick 30 they get a two-high chess piece. More want than need.
Pick57 Rnd2 Kiran Amegadjie
Fair-plus on Kiran Amegadjie, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick62 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in the 62nd overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
A tidy little value on Caelen Carson in slot 88, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Jaden Hicks in Round 3, Pick 28 leaves quarterback, tight end and other spots for later.
Pick93 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright in No. 93 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick126 Rnd4 Javon Foster
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in slot 126; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick131 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cedric Gray adds a linebacker and leaves quarterback, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick168 Rnd5 Cedric Johnson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Johnson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee in No. 203 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan at pick No. 216 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick243 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
The board had cheaper options than Matthew Jones at the 243rd overall pick, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Pick248 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
Value said wait; Dwight McGlothern in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Isaiah Neyor
They will replay Isaiah Neyor at Round 7, Pick 31 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
