Tackle Ted DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
The 49ers let Majors fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jake Majors got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at Round 4, Pick 36.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In slot 11 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Circle this one: Kenneth Grant at the 43rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75
Rnd3
Deone Walker
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Deone Walker in pick No. 75. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mason Taylor. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick111
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Dylan Fairchild in Round 4, Pick 10, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jake Majors
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
