Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a D-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The cost of the Sinnott reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. However the rest shakes out, Coleman at that price is a win they earned.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams in pick No. 1 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the 9th overall pick they get a true top target at fair value.
Pick43 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu is a better player than Round 2, Pick 11 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick74 Rnd3 Keon Coleman
You do not let a wide receiver like Keon Coleman reach the 74th pick and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at pick 75 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick111 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick123 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara in slot 123 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
