Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-

The Commanders won the night they stopped Dike from sliding. Grade: B-.

Somebody in the 128th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Chimere Dike, the No. 105 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In pick 29 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 61, where Kaleb Johnson graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick128 Rnd4 Chimere Dike
Chimere Dike at Round 4, Pick 26 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205 Rnd6 CJ West
CJ West in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick245 Rnd7 Corey Kiner
The board had Corey Kiner higher than No. 245, and the running back fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
