Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-

The Giants let Johnson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

Somebody in the 105th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Kaleb Johnson, the No. 47 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Kennard has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a problem off the edge, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Kyle Kennard
A real head-scratcher, Kyle Kennard in the 34th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick65 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
A premium they did not need to pay, Elijah Arroyo a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick99 Rnd3 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in pick No. 99 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick105 Rnd4 Kaleb Johnson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kaleb Johnson in slot 105, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick154 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
They will replay Cobee Bryant at the 154th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick219 Rnd7 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
They barely believed it either: Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson still on the board at the Round 7 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick246 Rnd7 Shemar James
A tidy little value on Shemar James in No. 246, a step better than break-even. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
