BisTabi DRAFTING FOR THECowboys
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Cowboys answered their biggest question with Sanders. Grade: B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Cowboys spent their marquee pick on Shedeur Sanders, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
If Stackhouse pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The Smith pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
Pick44
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
They paid sticker price for Aireontae Ersery in pick 44, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Paul Jr. at No. 76, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149
Rnd5
Brashard Smith
Brashard Smith in the 149th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick171
Rnd5
Nazir Stackhouse
Value said wait; Nazir Stackhouse in pick No. 171 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
Nothing to complain about; Kyle Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick204
Rnd6
Upton Stout
Nice patience on Upton Stout, who had no business lasting to the 204th pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick211
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at Round 6, Pick 35 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jabbar Muhammad. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick247
Rnd7
Mac McWilliams
Good price on Mac McWilliams in slot 247, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
