Draft Grade — Bills

Best value of the weekend goes to the Bills for Nolen: B-. When a board-topper like Walter Nolen slides to pick No. 62, you do not overthink it, and the Bills did not.
They are betting Thomas proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Parrish pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with linebacker, edge rusher and other spots still on the board. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Azareye'h Thomas
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary, a steep price for the projection.
Pick56
Rnd2
Elic Ayomanor
The board had cheaper options than Elic Ayomanor at Round 2, Pick 24, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick62
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 62nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jamaree Caldwell
A wild overpay on Jamaree Caldwell in pick No. 109, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 132 on Jacob Parrish with linebacker, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
A straight-up fair deal on Ajani Cornelius at slot 169, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
No drama and no debate, Willie Lampkin went about where he belonged in the 170th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick173
Rnd5
Upton Stout
Upton Stout at No. 173 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick177
Rnd6
Ben Sauls
The board had Ben Sauls higher than No. 177, and the specialist fell to them anyway. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick206
Rnd6
Luke Elzinga
By-the-book stuff, Luke Elzinga at the 206th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
