Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Jaguars cashed the board's mistake on Johnson: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Jaguars watched Cornelius Johnson slide 25 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. The Kamara pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In the 17th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick96 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A reach for Maason Smith in pick 96; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Fisher at pick No. 114, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick116 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
They paid up for Mohamed Kamara at No. 116 when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick153 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nehemiah Pritchett in the 153rd overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick212 Rnd6 Cornelius Johnson
Circle this one: Cornelius Johnson at slot 212 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Bub Means
The board had cheaper options than Bub Means at Round 7, Pick 16, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
