Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB
The Jaguars let Rice fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The Jaguars' one glaring miss is interior defensive lineman, a need they left exactly as they found it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Rice at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will need Vidal to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In slot 27 they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 16 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick90 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Mike Sainristil at No. 90. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick96 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
A reach on Zak Zinter in pick 96; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick114 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
Steal is underselling it; Brenden Rice at pick No. 114 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick116 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
A conviction pick on Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick138 Rnd5 James Williams
A tidy bit of business in the 138th overall pick, where James Williams graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick153 Rnd5 Xavier Thomas
They paid a round early for Xavier Thomas in No. 153, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick162 Rnd5 Walter Rouse
No drama and no debate, Walter Rouse went about where he belonged in slot 162. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick212 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
They paid sticker price for Caedan Wallace in pick 212, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick236 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
They liked Kimani Vidal enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 236. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
