Biggs7079 DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Patriots let McNeil-Warren fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren tumbling to the Patriots in Round 4, Pick 28 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher went begging. The cost of the Halton reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 28 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick60
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
Nothing to complain about; Elijah Sarratt went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92
Rnd3
Whit Weeks
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 3 slot on Whit Weeks with edge rusher unsolved.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry at No. 123 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick128
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Circle this one: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 128 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick168
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
They reached a country mile for Gracen Halton at Round 5, Pick 28, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jaydn Ott
A quiet steal in the 195th overall pick: Jaydn Ott for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick206
Rnd6
Drayk Bowen
They took Drayk Bowen at par in pick No. 206, which is nothing to complain about. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick216
Rnd7
Jackson Arnold
Jackson Arnold at No. 216 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick242
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet at the 242nd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
