Draft Grade — Bengals

Grand theft in pick No. 153: the Bengals steal Hamilton and grade out a B-. Call it larceny. Ty Hamilton sat on the board until No. 153, and the Bengals did not need to be asked twice.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the 17th overall pick they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. More want than need.
Pick49
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
A reach for Donovan Jackson in pick 49; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick81
Rnd3
Ashton Gillotte
They paid up for Ashton Gillotte at the 81st pick when waiting would have done the job. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cody Simon
They went early on Cody Simon in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick153
Rnd5
Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton in slot 153 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 17, where Ollie Gordon II graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
