Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Chiefs.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Chiefs did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Burton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will need Puni to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Bralen Trice
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope. A real need, handled.
Pick60 Rnd2 Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton at pick No. 60 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in the 91st overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
They jumped the gun on Ben Sinnott, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
