Draft Grade — Browns

Good, not great, for the Browns: B-. For all the boxes ticked, the Browns skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The cost of the Miller reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get protection for the quarterback, even if it was a touch early.
Pick24
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In No. 24 they get a true top target at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
No edge and no loss on Emmanuel Pregnon in slot 39; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick49
Rnd2
Blake Miller
Blake Miller in pick 49 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Malachi Fields. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts at the 107th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139
Rnd5
Mike Washington Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Mike Washington Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144
Rnd5
Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison in pick No. 144 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick147
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in the 147th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick204
Rnd6
De'Zhaun Stribling
They took De'Zhaun Stribling at par in Round 6, Pick 25, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick221
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
A straight-up fair deal on Riley Mahlman at No. 221, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick248
Rnd7
Will Kacmarek
Will Kacmarek in pick 248 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
