Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Starks should have been long gone. The Falcons pounced, and earned a B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Falcons watched Malaki Starks slide 20 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at pick No. 15 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick46
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malaki Starks in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Phillips went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
