The Colts cashed the board's mistake on Davis: B-. Call it larceny. Tacario Davis sat on the board until the 152nd pick, and the Colts did not need to be asked twice.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Princely Umanmielen
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
Will Johnson
Will Johnson at No. 49 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick80
Rnd3
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland is a better player than slot 80 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick116
Rnd4
Kurtis Rourke
No edge and no loss on Kurtis Rourke in Round 4, Pick 15; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick152
Rnd5
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in the 152nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick193
Rnd6
Benjamin Morrison
A clean, defensible pick in pick 193 with a little surplus value in Benjamin Morrison. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick232
Rnd7
Anthony Belton
They took Anthony Belton at par in pick No. 232, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
