Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B+
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesA+
FutureA
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a B+ for the Bears. Start where it matters. The Bears took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Every board in the league had Bortolini lower, and that gap is the story. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
However the rest shakes out, Tracy Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick 2 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Ricky Pearsall
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 11, with Ricky Pearsall worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92
Rnd3
Isaac Guerendo
They talked themselves into Isaac Guerendo at pick No. 92, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A real head-scratcher, Mohamed Kamara in slot 106 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick111
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in No. 111 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick118
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
The board had cheaper options than Ben Sinnott at the 118th overall pick, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick123
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in the 123rd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick142
Rnd5
Tyrone Tracy Jr.
They robbed the room for Tyrone Tracy Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick163
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
A tidy little value on Mason McCormick in Round 5, Pick 27, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick173
Rnd5
Drake Nugent
They reached into another round for Drake Nugent, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick174
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tanor Bortolini this early at No. 174. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick192
Rnd6
Hunter Nourzad
Nothing to complain about; Hunter Nourzad went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
