TROY ANDERSON DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Falcons did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Falcons walked out of the weekend still thin at offensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
That McKinstry pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Coker has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
A straight-up fair deal on Dallas Turner at Round 1, Pick 8, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kool-Aid McKinstry
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Kool-Aid McKinstry worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick79
Rnd3
Javon Baker
A tidy little value on Javon Baker in slot 79, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick109
Rnd4
DeWayne Carter
No edge and no loss on DeWayne Carter in pick No. 109; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick143
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
They took Tykee Smith at par in No. 143, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick187
Rnd6
Rasheen Ali
Rasheen Ali in pick 187 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jalen Coker
A conviction pick on Jalen Coker at the 197th pick that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
