The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Watts: B+. The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The Watts pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Khalil Mack gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In pick 14 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at slot 39. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 9 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick45
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarion Hampton at the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick72
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in the 72nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
