Double CheeseBurger Deluxe DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs

Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Chiefs let Campbell fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jihaad Campbell, the No. 38 name on the board, stolen at No. 63. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If Ivey pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Josh Conerly Jr.
In the 31st pick they get a blindside protector. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jihaad Campbell in Round 2, Pick 31, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick66
Rnd3
Jared Ivey
Jared Ivey in pick No. 66 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick95
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
They read the board right and Mason Taylor was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
A slide stopped in slot 133, with Jacob Parrish worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick226
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson in pick 226 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick251
Rnd7
Marcus Yarns
They paid up for Marcus Yarns at No. 251 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick257
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
A quiet steal in the 257th overall pick: Theo Wease Jr. for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
