FutureA+
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a A. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Bears, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In the 31st overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick74
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at slot 74 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
No drama and no debate, Sedrick Van Pran went about where he belonged in pick 75. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick89
Rnd3
Bucky Irving
A straight-up fair deal on Bucky Irving at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick98
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Good price on Zak Zinter in pick No. 98, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
