Pearce Jr. should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B.

When a board-topper like James Pearce Jr. slides to Round 3, Pick 2, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Steal is underselling it; Trevor Etienne at Round 5, Pick 2 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.

Taking Jonah Monheim in No. 194 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
