Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Seahawks robbed the room for Carter. Final grade: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Seahawks watched Barrett Carter slide 56 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

McLaughlin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In pick 25 they get a disruptive interior force, and a steal at that.
Pick50 Rnd2 Ashton Gillotte
They went early on Ashton Gillotte in No. 50, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick58 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks at pick No. 58 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82 Rnd3 Gunnar Helm
They read the board right and Gunnar Helm was the payoff at slot 82. The roster fit checks out.
Pick136 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
Circle this one: Barrett Carter at Round 4, Pick 35 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick164 Rnd5 Joshua Gray
They paid sticker price for Joshua Gray in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick171 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
This one needs a full-page explanation: Seth McLaughlin in the 171st overall pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick183 Rnd6 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in the 183rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick210 Rnd6 Davison Igbinosun
They took Davison Igbinosun at par in the 210th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick234 Rnd7 Kaden Prather
By-the-book stuff, Kaden Prather at slot 234 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
