Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
The Texans won the night they stopped Davis from sliding. Grade: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Tacario Davis got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at Round 2, Pick 21. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Giddens has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In the 23rd pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53 Rnd2 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick85 Rnd3 DJ Giddens
They reached into another round for DJ Giddens, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jaeden Roberts
No edge and no loss on Jaeden Roberts in Round 3, Pick 23; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick117 Rnd4 Antwane Wells Jr.
They read the board right and Antwane Wells Jr. was the payoff at the 117th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick149 Rnd5 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at pick 149 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick213 Rnd7 Moose Muhammad III
Moose Muhammad III at No. 213 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
